On March 5th, the University of Minnesota China Office facilitated an alumni meeting to discuss potential expansion of the alumni Beijing Chapter leadership and new development opportunities.

University of Minnesota Regents Professor R. Lawrence Edwards in the College of Science and Engineering’s Department of Earth Sciences was elected as a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for his excellence in original scientific research studying climate patterns, notably in China.
On August 1, the University of Minnesota China Office hosted a workshop on healthy living for incoming Chinese international freshman students and their parents.
China 100 is a yearlong celebration honoring the first students from China and the wealth of connections that have come since. The celebration officially opened in China in late June, 2013, when President Eric Kaler led the sixth university presidential delegation to China.
On Saturday, November 9th, University of Minnesota alumnus Dr. Patrick Mendis made a special stop during his Asian book tour to meet with fellow alumni in Beijing as a part of the ongoing China100 Celebration.
On October 19, 2013 the University Beijing Office hosted an alumni gathering to highlight China 100, a yearlong celebration honoring the first students from China and the wealth of connections that have come since.
The fourth “End-of-Month Alumni Friday” event was held on the Peking University campus, and generously hosted by Dr. Xiaoru Yuan and Dr. Fang Fang, both of whom are professors in Peking University and devoted alumni.
