Tsai Chuen-Jinn received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1977, and a master of science in 1986 and a doctorate in 1990 from the Particle Technology Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota.
After graduation, Tsai worked as a professor of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, where he established one of the best aerosol laboratories known as the Nanoparticle and Air Quality Laboratory. The laboratory conducts research on aerosol sampling instruments, aerosol physics, aerosol control devices, and air quality. He has published more than 100 scientific articles and has held 10 patents.
Tsai is one of the founding members of the Chinese Association for Aerosol Research in Taiwan and the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly. He chaired the 6th International Aerosol Conference in Taiwan in 2002. In 2006, Tsai received the International Aerosol Fellow Award from the International Aerosol Research Assembly.
