Fran Fangyuan Liu
China Office Director
Fran Fangyuan Liu first learned of the University of Minnesota when she was 12 years old. She is excited to join her alma mater to enrich the connections between the University and its key stakeholders and strong alumni base in China.
Fran holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and earned her master's degree in business from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. After graduating from UMN, Fran served as executive president of the University’s alumni chapter in Beijing and hosted more than 20 alumni events each year.
In the professional world, Fran has more than five years of integrated marketing and business development experience at small to large companies, from start-ups to Fortune 500s. Fran is a passionate and innovative problem-solver who grew business revenue by 400% in one of her entrepreneurial experiences.
China Office Assistant
Jieying earned her bachelor degree from Capital Normal University in Beijing and later obtained her Master of Education degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Before joining the China Office in Beijing, she worked in five offices for the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, including the China Center, Confucius Institute, Office of Admissions, Learning Abroad Center, and Department of Asian Language and Literature. She also worked for the University of Minnesota, Morris campus helping the International Student Program with its summer transition program in 2017 and 2018. Jieying brings to the office her expertise in business development and finance, which she gained from her six years’ work at Nestlé China’s Headquarter in Beijing. Jieying hopes to continue enhancing U.S.-China collaboration and exchange in education and culture through her work at the China Office.
